According to a study published by the Journal of Health & Psychology, gardening led to a substantially lower level of cortisone (the stress hormone) in the test group, as well as an increased positive mood. This study also found that gardening led to much stronger decreases in cortisol compared to reading.

According to a study published in the journal of Cities, the evidence of the study found that the more frequently you garden, the greater the overall health benefits. It was also determined that gardening every day has the same positive impact on wellbeing as regular, vigorous exercise like cycling or running.
